Luis cuevas is a thoughtful and personal writer that flourishes in his vivid storytelling. Recalling nostalgia and worries from his past with painting like descriptions. Poems like Terreno Baldío and Dañado that tell the stories from his upbringing. Examinations of his surround in Atmósfera Encendida and Sin Angeles. Blending his Mexican American Spanish and inflections with the Spanish he heard growing up at home. Coming to terms with who he is in poems like Sucio Suecia and Cuando Pare de Creer en Dios. Pulling from the collection of fragments amassed from the experience of growing up in Westlake, Los Angeles. His adoration of cinema and storytelling are on full display in this emotive collection of poems. Anatomía de mi Melancolía is his first foray into Spanish and his attempt at trying to evoke his father in every stanza.
Luis Enrique Cuevas is a filmmaker and writer from Los Angeles. Anatomia de mi Melancolia is his first exploration of poetry and writing in Spanish. He graduated from CSU Northridge With a BA in screen-writing and has worked at post production facility in Burbank. He has written short and feature length films and has had one produced by USC's Peter Stark program. Luis is a mexican american and would like to explore the stories that he often heard growing up around in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles.
